President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has warned that the Middle East is facing “deliberate attempts” to redraw its political map, cautioning that ongoing conflicts and instability could reshape the region in ways that threaten the sovereignty and stability of many nations. His remarks came during a national address marking the anniversary of the liberation of the Sinai Peninsula, a historic moment that commemorates the return of the territory to Egypt after years of conflict.

Speaking during the annual celebration of Sinai Liberation Day, Sisi said the region is passing through a critical and sensitive period marked by escalating tensions and prolonged wars. He warned that some actors are attempting to exploit these crises to reshape borders, weaken states, and fuel instability across the Middle East. According to the Egyptian leader, such developments pose a serious threat not only to regional peace but also to the political and social cohesion of many countries.

Sisi linked his concerns to the growing number of conflicts affecting the region, including the ongoing war in Gaza Strip and wider geopolitical tensions that have intensified across the Middle East. He stressed that these crises are creating conditions that could be used to justify demographic changes, forced displacement, and the fragmentation of existing states.

Reaffirming Egypt’s long-standing stance, the president emphasized that Egypt firmly rejects any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land or impose solutions that alter the demographic reality of Palestinian territories. He reiterated that a just and lasting peace can only be achieved through a political settlement that respects international law and guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

During the address, Sisi also highlighted the importance of preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Middle Eastern countries. He called for greater regional cooperation and diplomacy to address conflicts and prevent further escalation, noting that military confrontations and external interference have repeatedly deepened instability across the region.

Sinai Liberation Day marks the final withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Sinai Peninsula in 1982 following the Camp David Accords between Egypt and Israel. The anniversary has long served as a symbol of Egyptian sovereignty and resilience, making it a significant platform for national reflections on security and regional politics.

In his speech, Sisi used the occasion to stress that maintaining stability in the Middle East requires respect for national borders, peaceful dialogue, and collective efforts to prevent conflicts from reshaping the region’s future.
