Ethiopian Airlines has once again reinforced its position as Africa’s leading carrier after being named Best Airline in Africa at the 2026 APEX Passenger Choice Awards, a global ranking driven entirely by passenger votes. The recognition reflects not only airline performance, but also customer trust at a time when global aviation is increasingly competitive and experience-driven.
The award, announced at the annual APEX (Airline Passenger Experience Association) ceremony, places the Addis Ababa-based airline ahead of its continental competitors once again, cementing a dominance it has steadily built over several years. The rankings are based on verified passenger feedback collected from millions of flights worldwide, covering service quality, seat comfort, cabin cleanliness, in-flight entertainment, and overall travel experience.
For Ethiopian Airlines, the win is a continuation of a long upward trajectory rather than a surprise.
The airline has consistently positioned itself as Africa’s most globally connected carrier, operating one of the largest and fastest-growing route networks on the continent.
