HAVANA, CUBA-ย During the XIX meeting of the intergovernmental commission for cooperation between the two nations in Moscow, Cuba showed interest in Russian fertilizers, hydrocarbons, and wheat.

The Russian Ministry of Economic Development said to the TASS agency, โthe Cuban side expressed its interest in stable supplies to the Island of fertilizers, hydrocarbons and Russian wheat.โย
As part of the negotiations, the parties also discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral trade and economic relations.
Several topics were addressed, including humanitarian, scientific, and educational cooperation, as well as industrial and energy projects, although no specific information was provided.
A statement concluded that the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the Republic of Cuba signed an agreement on cooperation in higher education to deepen humanitarian ties.
The meeting of the Russian-Cuban ๐จ๐บ intergovernmental commission takes place on the eve of the arrival in Moscow of the Cuban president, Miguel Dรญaz-Canel, who will participate in the inauguration of a monument to Fidel Castro early next week along with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

Contacts and statements between the two countries have intensified in recent weeks. Sergeyย Riabkov, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, and Ricardoย Cabrisas, the Cuban Deputy Prime Minister, addressed on Thursday the “unacceptable” unilateral sanctions against their respective countries.

On the occasion of the Havana International Fair a day ago, Borisย Titov, the Russian presidential commissioner for workers’ rights, said both nations were discussing the possibility of carrying out transactions in rubles and cryptocurrencies to avoid international sanctions and facilitate โmutual payments.โ
