CELINE DION REVEALS SHE IS BATTLING STIFF PERSON SYNDROME

Our prayers go up for singer and performer Celine Dion, as she has revealed that she is battling a rare neurological syndrome called stiff person syndrome and will postpone her 2023 “Courage World Tour.”

The 54-year-old singer made the announcement on her Instagram in an emotional video, stating that she was not ready to talk about it but the time has come for her to be open and honest with the world.

“I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time, and it’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through,” she said.

According to The Washington Post, stiff person syndrome, is a rare neurological disorder that causes muscle stiffness and sometimes intense muscle spasms in the trunk and limbs, affecting posture, balance and the ability to use certain muscles.

The syndrome, has affected Celine’s life daily causing her difficulty in walking and singing sometimes as the muscle spasms kick in.

“Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to,” she said.

She then went on to reveal that she will not be able to kick off her tour in February. She also stated that she has a great team of doctors that are working closely with her.

Celine stated that she misses all of her fans and singing for them seeing as singing is the one thing that she really loves to do. However, the tour will be postponed to a later date in 2024.
