Brazil eased into the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup with a memorable and emphatic win over South Korea on Monday night.
Brazil scored an impressive 4-1 win against the Asian team in only the first half of the game. Brazil’s Vini Jr. paved the way for the team’s victory, scoring the first goal in the 7th minute. Neymar soon followed scoring a goal in the 13th minute, followed by Richarlison and Lucas Paqueta in the 29th and 36th minutes respectively.
Paik Seung-ho of South Korea scored the first goal for the South Korean team in the 76th minute of the game in the second half.
Their 4-1 demolition of South Korea in the last 16 of the World Cup was as beautiful as it was brutal, and served as a timely reminder that they are ready to end a 20-year wait to be world champions again.
A veteran-laden Croatia 🇭🇷 team outlasted Japan on Monday and advanced to the World Cup quarterfinal, 3-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Daizen Maeda put Japan ahead late in the first half with a poached goal off a Maya Yoshida flicked pass.
Croatia equalized in the second half when Dejan Lovren’s long cross landed precisely on the head of Ivan Perisic, who hammered it home.
The game went to penalties after a scoreless extra period, and Dominik Livakovic came up big, making three saves and sending Croatia to the next round.
Brazil will take on Croatia in the 2022 World Cup quarterfinals after the two sides enjoyed contrasting fortunes in the Round of 16. Five times winners Brazil are still favourites to go on and win the tournament, but Croatia have shown trademark resilience to reach the last eight, and they will pose a real threat to the Samba Boys.
