A Kenyan MP wanted by police as a suspect in the shooting of his rival’s bodyguard has been re-elected in his parliamentary seat, following Tuesday’s polls.

Didmus Barasa, according to police, has been evading capture since he was connected to the fatal shooting that took place at a polling station on election day.

According to a government source quoted in a local newspaper, he is believed to have left the site in a motorbike taxi and was traveling towards the neighboring nation of Uganda.

Police have been instructed by the public prosecutor to arrest the MP and record a statement. Prosecutor Noordin Haji stated that “according to police in Bungoma, the MP is still at large and his phone is switched off.”
