Nigerian rap star, Blaqbones, has expressed his disappointment in fellow Nigerian artiste Wizkid after he stated that African hip hop music is dead.
Wizkid shared in an interview last week that he does not listen to African hip hop music as according to him all the artistes sound the same hence the genre is dead.
“I don’t listen to rap; that sh*t is boring. It’s dead now; it’s tired. These guys do the same shit, rap on the same beats, same flows,” he said.

His comment took a hit at a few rappers and Blaqbones publicly shared his disappointment on Twitter revealing that he is a big Wizkid fan, but his statement was uncalled for since many Nigerian rappers are doing well and representing the continent.
“The last few days had me felecting, looking back at how far I’ve come, the Wins and the Losses, whatever rap may or may not be, it got me this, everything I have, the cult like fans who by far are the best part of everything,” read the post.
According to Blaq, Wizkid’s interview comments were not as hurtful since it is a debate that he has participated in with others. What truly hurt him was Wizkid’s follow up comments on Snapchats where he revealed that he only recognizes three rappers in Africa; Nasty C, Sarkodie and Black Sherif.

“Everyone knows I’m a big Wizkid fan…I wasn’t even mad at the magazine article, those are conversations I’ve even had behind the scenes, but the actions that followed can’t be defended, heavily degrading and undeserved,” he added.
Wizkid’s comments have sparked outrage around Africa as many artistes are just not having it. Kenya’s Khaligraph Jones as well as other Nigerian artistes have also bashed Wizkid.
